Lady Bulldogs sweep Rice in three sets

The Wortham volleyball team notched a three-set victory at Rice in a non-district match Tuesday. Wortham opened with a 25-20 win in the first set. The Lady Bulldogs followed that up with a 25-22 triumph in the second set and rolled to a 25-12 decision in round three to close out the victory. The win improved Wortham’s season record to 7-12. They were coming off a tough three days at the competitive Leon Tournament last week. Junior Riley Winstead paced Wortham with nine kills. She added two blocks and one dig.
