Gipson to take the helm of Ladycats hoops Black Cats assistant Davis honored by TABC

Katilyn Gipson has been named the new head coach of the Ladycats for the 202526 season, Athletic Director Aaron Nowell announced. This is her first head coaching position. Gipson played for the Ladycats, graduating in 2015. As a senior, she helped the Ladycats advance to the fourth round of the playoffs.

Area basketball players honored Mexia’s Collins 3A All-State

After leading Mexia to its third straight district championship, junior Kelan Collins was named Class 3A All-State by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. He averaged 21.1 points, hitting 49% of his field goals, and averaged 3.7 assists in leading the Black Cats (2512, 12-0 in District 20-3A) to a third-round playoff appearance.
