Runners up: Ladycats cross country team finishes second at Cayuga meet

The Mexia girls cross country team finished second at the Cayuga meet Wednesday. Kim Jardon led three Ladycats in the top 10 with a runner-up finish in 15 minutes, 34 seconds on the two-mile course. Rebecca Gonzalez finished eighth in 16:33 and Fernanda Garcia was 10th in 16:37. Jackie Avila and Tania Martinez were the fourth and fifth Mexia runners, respectively, across the finish line to round out the Ladycats’ scoring. Diazy Salazar also finished the race for the Ladycats. The Mexia boys did not field a varsity team. On the junior varsity side, the Blackcats finished first and the young Ladycats were second.
