Blackcats try to regroup for game against Kemp
After an emotional loss in overtime in the Battle of River against Groesbeck last Friday, the Mexia football team will try to bounce back this week when it travels to Kemr in the fourth quarter that began the Blackcats’ comeback from two touchdowns behind to tie the game and force overtime. For the season Bryant has 13 receptions for 221 yards and is averaging 17 yards per catch. The ‘Cats also have Da’Kedrick Brooks on the outside. The 6-2, 205-pounder is Mexia’s second-leading receiver for the year with 10 catches for 77 yards. Throwing the ball for Mexia will be junior Brett Swift, a converted tight end. Swift started his first game of the season at quarterback against Groesbeck and completed 9-of-15 passes for 211 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
