‘The Character Factor’ delves into presidential behaviors

Author James P. Pfiffner says his book, “The Character Factor – How We Judge America’s Presidents,” is not for people who have already made up their minds about a president’s behavior. A person must consider many factors before making any decisions. He claims that a person should become informed about a president’s lying, marital infidelity, promise making, and potentially impeachable behavior. To be fair about a reader’s judgement, one must carefully study the President’s good judgement, courage, and effective leadership. However, there is no consensus about what constitutes good character. He gives us the responsibility of separating private standards of morality from moral obligations of presidents in office.
