FRESH FACE

Dear Readers: Spring’s the time to freshen up, and that includes your skin! Gentle exfoliation is a great way to remove winter’s dull cast on the complexion. And what do I love to use? GILLESPIE TO THE RESCUE!

Dear Heloise: I have Type 1 diabetes, and I also have a service dog, a golden retriever named Gillespie, who is trained to detect when my blood sugar drops. He can sense the change due to the smell of my breath when I exhale, and he’s trained to nudge me with his nose and even alert someone else to my condition. He’s even trained to bring me my medications and my cellphone, too! If he didn’t help me out and alert me, I could faint and fall.

Book details ‘Life and Legend’ of Fort Worth’s Jim Courtright

Isaiah Timothy “Long Hair Jim” Courtright led a life that was characterized as living on both sides of the law. As Fort Worth grew from an isolated ranching and cattle center, Jim’s legend grew from a family man to one of the most feared gun figures in the West. The book concerning Jim was written by Robert K. DeArment, a long-time student of the West and its gunfighters. He is a member of several groups which makes a life-long careers of studying the establishment of law on the frontier. Of course, this means the study of the ones which made law enforcement and established it on a dangerous plain. The life of Jim Courtright was not as it has been told for years and written.
