‘Short Call’ a delightful book

“Short Call – Snippets from the Smallest Places in Texas, 1835 – 2000” is the most delightful book I have read in a very long time. It was funny, interesting, truthful, and even, refreshing. Written by Joyce Gibson Roach, an award-winning author and published by the University of North Texas. The snippets are only each a few pages long and all occur in Turtle, Texas. A town developed for these stories. I thought, perhaps, the best way to show the stories was to copy one of shortest snippets as a review. I chose the snippet called “Cleanliness is Next to …. Outhouses.”
