‘Red Wagons and White Canvas’ tells story of the Mollie Bailey Circus

Mollie Bailey was born in Mobile, Ala., on Nov. 2, 1844, to William and Mary Arline Kirkland. She was only 14 when she eloped with James (Gus) Bailey who played the cornet in her father’s band.
