The Mexia volleyball team was beaten in four sets by Palestine Westwood in a District 20-3A match at Palestine on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

The Mexia volleyball team rebounded from a two-set deficit at Groesbeck on Tuesday, but could not come all the way back in a five-set loss to the Lady Goats. Groesbeck scored 10 of the first 12 points in the fifth and deciding set to propel itself to a 15-8 victory. With the loss, Mexia fell to 2-8 in District 20-3A play. Groesbeck improved to 9-1 in district. They were tied for first place with Fairfield. The teams were scheduled to play Friday with the district’s top spot on the line. Groesbeck had won the first two sets by 25-15 scores. Mexia held off the home team and notched a 25-23 win in the third set. The Ladycats added a 2520 triumph in round four to push the match to a fifth set.

The Wortham volleyball team ripped visiting Covington in a non-district match at Wortham on Tuesday.
