The Coolidge football team made relatively short work of Gholson in a 54-8 victory Friday night at Gholson. The game was stopped in the third quarter due to the 45-point mercy rule in six-man football.
The Mexia Community Sports Pee Wee (6-7-year-old) football team shut out Crockett 24-0 in Crockett on Saturday, Oct. 8. The victory came after Mexia had lost to Franklin on Oct. 1. The Lil Cats scored on the opening drive on a short touchdown run by Jacob Beachum. He did most of the work on the ground. Beachum had a 40-yard run which took the ball to Crockett’s 30-yard line. He then ripped off a 20yard run that put the ball on the 10. After a run by Julian Brown, two plays later Beachum got into the end zone. The two-point run by Dillon Johnson gave Mexia an 8-0 lead. After Mexia’s defense held Crockett again, the Lil Cats struck quickly with another big play. Brown galloped 55 yards to the Crockett 15-yard line. Johnson broke a tackle and rambled into the end zone from 10 yards away. The two-point run by Josiah Medlock put Mexia on top 16-0 at halftime.
