The Mexia ISD school board voted to go ahead with two renovation projects this summer at its regular board meeting Monday, June 15, and OK’d a number of waivers related to the shutdown of all schools in the state since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A video of an alleged racial incident has been released by the Mexia Police Department that shows the matter is not what it was initially thought to be.
Limestone County Master Gardeners put the finishing touches on Habitat for Humanity’s newest build at 621 North Red River Street in Mexia. The home, started last fall, will be dedicated at 1:30 p.m. June 28 for homeowners Scott and Kristin Green. The landscaping is the final step in completing a process that has involved over 400 hours of sweat equity by this family and community volunteers. Habitat board members welcome everyone to join them for the dedication ceremony and open house that day.
Mexia City Council members heard options for having some kind of pool and/or splash pad to replace the current non-functioning swimming pool, but the price was far above the current $500,000 budget.
The show must go on, and it will, at least when it comes to the 90th annual Mexia Rodeo.
