In just their second game of the season, the Coolidge Yellowjackets went down to the wire with Hubbard in a District 26-1A boys’ basketball game at Coolidge on Tuesday night.
Coolidge girls’ basketball coach Briana Johnson is confident in her team’s ability to rack up wins. So, when asked who is the team to beat in District 26-1A this year, the coach replied, “We are the team to beat. I think this is going to be a really good year for us.”
The Mexia girls’ basketball team pressed Waxahachie Life into submission Friday night.
Mexia opened up a 14-point lead after one quarter, but Palestine came back and took the lead in the third quarter on its way to a 69-62 victory at Palestine on Friday night.
Seniors Yazmine Green and Precious Daily took over in the second half as the Mexia girls’ basketball team overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Rice, 59-56, in a non-district contest at Rice on Tuesday night.
