Running with the Wortham Bulldogs (4-1, 1-0) isn’t easy. The Bulldogs emptied out their backfield cupboard as four different ball carriers found bones in the end zone in their 69-6 victory over Hubbard (0-5, 0-1), Friday, Sept. 23 at Jaguar Field. Unlike the nursery rhyme’s cupboard, the scoreboard was not bare as the points racked up early and often. After a turnover-filled defeat to Blooming Grove a week before, Wortham running back Tanner Bean fumbled the ball on two of the first three plays of the game Friday and the Jaguars recovered on both occasions. “We didn’t come out strong,” Chad Coker, Wortham head coach, said. “We came out and made some mistakes early.” The Bulldogs’ defense held firm and forced a fumble and a punt on the two Hubbard possessions.
