Garden Club travels to Fall Conference

The Mexia Garden Club members traveled to Georgetown for a District V Garden Club Fall Conference. Those attending are Charlotte Weiss, District V Director from McGregor, Mary Demny, Patty Manley, Mexia President, Sarah McReynolds in costume, Gayle Beene and Carol Matthews. The theme of the event was “Something to Crow About.” The speaker was Nathan Fuchs from Ideal Poultry Farms in Cameron. The group was also treated to a presentation by Carol Smith about hydroponic gardening with Mason jars. Each attendee was able to make their own Mason jar garden to take home.

The Mexia Garden Club traveled to Waco on their Fall Pilgrimage to visit Urban Reap. The aquaponics system uses waste from fish to provide nutrients to grow plants without soil. About 16 members of the Mexia Garden Club attended and had a delightful time.
