Cathy Rogers had worked in a local veterinarian’s office for 15 years, so she had plenty of experience caring for animals when – in November 2019 – seeing the need for pet-boarding in the Mexia area, she opened her own business to offer that service.

MLK parade set for Saturday

A parade to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. will wind through downtown Mexia on Saturday, Jan. 16, and organizers are inviting Mexia residents to turn out to honor the civil rights figure.

Snow day!

Mexia had plenty of warning from the National Weather Service about the severe weather approaching last weekend. As the storm marched across Texas, it covered the land with snow, which began falling Sunday morning in Mexia, sometimes as huge, fluffy flakes, other times as small, almost formless pellets.

Board denies medical parole for convicted killer

The TDCJ Parole Board ended up denying the medical parole Carlos Don Stultz had requested, Limestone County Attorney Roy DeFriend reported Friday, Jan. 8.
