More than 1,500 have cast votes early in primaries

More than 1,500 had cast ballots in the early voting phase of this year’s Republican and Democrat primary elections as of Thursday, according to data received from Jennifer Southard, Lime stone County Elections Administrator.

Jerri’s Cakes and Treats cuts ribbon for new business

Jerri Walts, holding the scissors and wearing the dark shades, is cutting the red ribbon to celebrate the opening of her new cottage business named Jerri’s Cakes and Treats. Standing to her right is Traci LaFoy, director of the Mexia Chamber of Commerce, which Walts already has joined. Her bakery is located in her home in Forrest Glades. Friends and other local business owners are celebrating with her. She particularly enjoys baking and decorating wedding, birthday and party cakes.
