Mexia City Manager Eric Garretty informed Mayor Geary Smith Tuesday, Sept. 6, he has accepted a conditional offer from the city of Graham to be its city manager. Graham City Council made the offer Wednesday, Aug. 31. “I have absolutely no regrets,” Garretty said via email Tuesday morning, Sept. 5, about his time in Mexia. “The support of the mayor and City Council has been phenomenal throughout my tenure. I cannot adequately express the thanks and gratitude that I have in my heart for the leadership, patience and understanding of our outstanding City Council.” The city is not only losing its city manager, but also its 2021 Citizen of the Year. “As I spoke to Eric about his situation, his role as city manager and future concerns, I feel that Mexia is losing a city manager who has done a great deal for the growth and vision of Mexia as a city,” Smith said. “Eric has a lot of experience and knowledge in handling city personal and affairs. I know that the council will have to meet soon to discuss our future plans.
When you are invited to a function, go sit down in the farthest seat from the head table. Luke 14:10 You would think that with all the stuff Jesus had to address in life that He would not waste time talking about the importance of Where We Sit in Life when we go to functions, dinners, and events.
