American Legion offering ‘Golden Boy’

Groesbeck American Legion Post 288 is currently having a raffle for a Henry “Golden Boy” .22 L.R. Rifle. The raffle will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, you need not be present to win. Cost is $5 per ticket, or five for $20. Contact the American Legion Post 288 for more information at 254-729-6102. This week at Mexia LTC we started the week with Bible study provided by Irma Carranza on Monday morning. Residents played bingo that afternoon. Residents enjoyed Bible group with Bob Kersten on Tuesday morning.

Year-old murder still under investigation

No one is yet charged in the murder of a Mexia man on Sept. 8, 2022, at the Best Western hotel, but the case is still active, according to Capt. Bobby Coslin of the Mexia Police Department.

Voters to weigh in on investments in TX future

Fourteen constitutional amendments proposed by the Texas Legislature will be on the Nov. 7 ballot, and proponents of the overhaul to the 1876 document are banking on the state’s historic budget surplus of $32.7 billion to help convince voters to pass them.
