With end-of-year athletic banquets cancelled due to the COVID-19 epidemic, some coaches are taking to Facebook to announce sports awards. That’s what Chad Coker, athletic director and head football coach at Wortham High Schoo, did this weekend.
The annual Mexia Blackcat Athletic Banquet was among the many activities cancelled this year amidst school closing due to the threat of COVID-19.
Sophomore Andreya Reyna was voted the Varsity Players’ Player of the Year for the Mexia girls soccer team in its inaugural season.
As the state of Texas begins to open back up following a shutdown due to the threat of COVID-19, Mexia is following suit.
Three Mexia girls soccer players were voted to the All-District 18-4A first team in the Ladycats’ inaugural season.
