Every team needs a player like JaBryan Busby. Whether on the football field or the basketball court, the Mexia High School senior is a solid leader who does whatever it takes to contribute to his team’s success.
The second half of 2020 included football success in the form of a district championship for the Mexia Blackcats, strong starts for the Blackcat and Ladycat basketball teams and, of course, the toll COVID-19 sometimes took on the schedules of local athletic teams.
The Mexia boys’ basketball team returned to the court after being quarantined due to COVID-19 issues and shook off some rust to defeat Fairfield, 66-56, in a non-district game at the Johnson Activity Center at Fairfield High School on Tuesday.
The Mexia girls’ basketball team experienced issues with free throws that contributed to a 57- 50 non-district loss at Jacksonville on Tuesday.
