The Mexia Blackcats football team fell to 1-2 on the year with a 35-13 home loss to the Gatesville Hornets on Friday, Sept. 13.. It was the third time in as many years Gatesville has defeated the Blackcats in the regular season.
The Mexia Blackcats have a first-year starter at the quarterback position that happens to be a senior. Braden Wilson had one career start at quarterback coming into the 2024 season. Already, he has doubled that total number of starts and looks to build on that trend this Friday against Gatesville. Previously a junior varsity player at Lorena High, this is Wilson’s second year with the Blackcats program.

The Coolidge Yellowjackets football team earned its first win of 2024 with a resounding 40-0 home triumph Friday night, Sept. 6, against Methodist Children’s Home.
The Coolidge Ladyjackets volleyball club notched a 3-0 home win (25-13, 25-18, 25-7) over Morgan on Friday evening. The win puts the Ladyjackets over .500 with a season mark of 4-3.
