Keydren Majors had a big day at the plate and the Mexia baseball team jumped out to an early lead and defeated Italy, 10-2, at the Rice Baseball Tournament on Thursday.
The Mexia girls basketball team had one first-team selection and two second-team selections on the All-District 18-4A team.
Two Mexia Blackcat basketball players were recognized with All-District 18-4A honors for the recently completed season.
The Coolidge girls basketball team dominated the postseason awards for District 26-1A.
Aireanna Burns converted a penalty kick with 20 minutes remaining to lift the Mexia girls soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Waco La Vega and into a tie for fourth place in District 18-4A.
