The Mexia boys basketball team finished second at the Hillsboro Tournament after losing to the host school, 52-50, in the championship game Saturday, Dec. 10.
FROST - After nine tries, the Wortham girls basketball team was able to call itself a winner on Dec. 8.
Leading 10-6 after the first quarter, the Mexia Blackcats amped up their defensive pressure in round two against Italy at the Hillsboro Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 8.
The Mexia girls basketball team wanted to make a statement in their opening District 20-3A game. But after one quarter and a slim 8-7 lead over Groesbeck, it was head coach Carlos Daniels and assistant coach Dominique Brown-Johnson who made statements to the team.
Mexia will host a powerlifting meet for the first time in more than a decade with the Mexia Classic scheduled for Jan. 21 at Mexia Junior High gym.
