The unmistakable sound of multi-Dove and Grammy Award-winning recording artist David Phelps will be featured in Mexia, on Friday, Dec. 11, at First Baptist Church, 500 E. Carthage. This exciting Thanksgiving concert will feature some of Phelps’ most popular hits, as well as Christmas classics. This special musical evening begins at 7 p.m.

The Mexia Independent School District Board of Trustees voted during their meeting Monday, Nov. 16, to award full-time employees a $1,000 bonus in December.
Volunteers with an organization called Toys for Tots are doing everything they can to ensure Mexia-area children whose families are struggling financially will have a gift, hopefully several gifts, to open at Christmas.
Rose and Bill Groth show some of the 415 shoebox gifts they had received from generous Limestone County residents for children in poor countries by Thursday afternoon, Nov. 19. They will continue to collect the gifts this weekend: Friday-Saturday, Nov. 20-21, 9 a.m.-noon; Sunday, Nov. 22, 2-5 p.m.; Monday morning 8-10 a.m. The truck is leaving the church at 10 sharp, so the gifts must be there before that time.
