Texas welcomed women as settlement began in the region. However, their legal rights and liberties were not respected on the same level as the men’s. They were expected to stay and work at home while their husbands made all legal and property rights decisions. They could not vote or serve in any action outside the home. Today, a woman has been chosen as vice president of the United States.
