Two new sergeants are now at the helm of their respective shifts at the Mexia Police Department, Chief Brian Bell recently announced.

Bin busy

Mexia residents who took advantage of the Mexia Bulk Trash Drop-Off Event Saturday and Sunday kept City of Mexia Streets Department employees, from left, Mike Barkouskie, Abel Delamora and Jeffrey Proctor busy. They agreed this event was far more successful than the previous one. It was so successful that the trash bins were filled by Sunday afternoon. Republic came out and exchanged the bins for empty ones Monday morning, so the event continued til 6 p.m. Monday. Photo by Curtis Burton/The Mexia News
