When former Austin City Council Member Greg Casar stood before a crowd of cheering supporters Tuesday night, he portrayed his ascent from Workers Defense Project policy director to Democratic nominee for Congress as a sign that Republicans’ stronghold on Texas masks a burgeoning progressive movement.
The governor is the chief executive of Texas. The seat has not been held by a Democrat since 1995. Republican Greg Abbott, who is seeking a third term, won his primary outright on Tuesday. His primary challengers include former state Sen. Don Huffines and former Texas GOP Chair Allen West.
The Massey Foundation will host the Limestone County retired school personnel at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 14 with Jana Raymond speaking and providing information about the organization and how it assists people.
Members of the Mexia Garden Club have decided to postpone their Game Day because of the increase in COVID cases. When the event is rescheduled, the club will announce that fact in The Mexia News.
