Dear Heloise: My husband and I adopted Ginger (“Gigi”) from the Washington Animal Rescue League 11 years ago. She’s a longhaired Chihuahua mix, about 13 years old now. Her resiliency is an inspiration to me. She’s lived through at least three significant traumas, including my husband’s death. She’s brilliant, energetic, cuddly, well-behaved and friendly with other dogs and people.

The Advent of peace; cast your worries over to God

Last Sunday we began our thoughts on the Advent Season. As you may recall, the season of Advent marks the preparation for the receiving of the Savior. He’s coming again one day to receive His church unto His Kingdom, but the first Advent marked the time when the Christ child was born as a little baby to grow up to bring us His peace and His salvation as no one else can. Paul speaks of the “peace that passes all understanding” that results when we learn to lay all of our troubles and worries upon the Savior, something that we all have a hard time doing, right? But the results are so true when we do.
