Book on Littlefield tells story of ‘man absolutely sure of himself’
George Washington Littlefield was a Texas and New Mexico rancher, Austin banker and businessman, University of Texas regent, and philanthropist. Born June 21, 1842, Littlefield and his family moved to Texas when his family had difficulties with other members. In Texas is where his story truly begins. George’s life is very well told in “Texan George Washington Littlefield — A Man Absolutely Sure of Himself,” written by David B. Gracy II and published by the University of Oklahoma. Gracy, a relative of Littlefield has spent a lifetime researching archival and family sources. With this information and his vivid prose, Gracy’s writing is a real treat.
