In a volleyball match that featured many ups and downs for both teams, Abbott put together one final surge to defeat Mexia, 15-8, in the fifth game and clinch a victory at Mexia on Tuesday night.
Twice during its match against Dawson on Tuesday the Wortham volleyball team came from behind to tie the match. But in the end, the Lady Bulldogs fell four points short.
The Mexia football team broke loose for 31 first-half points and led home-standing Troy 31-22 at the intermission.
