In a match that took more than two hours to complete and featured more peaks and valleys than the Rocky Mountains, Mexia came out on top of Waco LaVega in a grueling five-set volleyball match at the Mexia High School gym Friday.
The Coolidge volleyball team gave Wortham all it could handle in the first two sets of their match Friday. But the Lady Bulldogs staved off the challenges and scored a three-set victory over the Ladyjackets at Coolidge.
Last year, the Wortham football team found out just how important it is to win its first district game against Hubbard.
The Mexia boys cross country team will head into the postseason on a high note after winning the championship at the Fairfield Golden Eagle Run on Saturday.
