Wade Dell Keeling

Graveside services for Wade Dell Keeling will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Bushy Cemetery, Marquez. Pastor Thomas Dansby, Upon This Rock Missionary Church of Mexia is officiating.

He quietly departed at Parkview Hospital in Mexia on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023.

Wade Dell Keeling, son of the late Luther Keeling and Katherine Keeling, was born in Mexia on Feb. 6, 1956. He attended the public schools of Mexia and graduated from Mexia High School in 1974. Although small in size, he was an excellent athlete.

At an early age, he professed his faith in Jesus. Later, he reaffirmed his belief under Pastor Thomas Dansby at Upon this Rock Church in Mexia.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force after high school for many years.

Never one to let the grass grow under his feet, he lived in several different cities. In later years, he worked as a teacher’s aide, a warehouse worker and for Union Pacific railroad.

Wade was an excellent fisherman and loved watching the San Francisco 49ers and attending events with family and friends. As a result of his generous spirit and outgoing personality, he was loved by many.

He was preceded in death by six sisters, Vera Quigley, Joyce Eggins, Mickey Smith, Beulah Dubreuil, Barbara Robinson and Mary “Good Deal” Alexander; and his loving parents, Katherine and Luther Keeling.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his sons, Michael Bates of Mexia and André Medlock of Mexia; three brothers, Jesse Keeling of Abilene, Wil Keeling of Lancaster and Daniel Keeling of Dallas; special friends, Dorothy Washington, and best friend, Anthony “Duck “ Baker; grandkids, Tydrick Busby, André Medlock Jr., Shawndanee Medlock, A’marion Medlock, Asia Martinez, Amonte Medlock, A’mere Medlock, A’giana Medlock and King Bates; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life reception and balloon release will be held at 4 p.m. in Mexia at the Quigley Community Center, 200 Walnut St. in Mexia.
