VICKIE LEE WARD
Vickie Lee Ward, 64, formerly of Mexia, passed away on March 30, 2025, at her home in Colorado City. She was born on June 16, 1960, in Mexia to Lee Benjamin and Lois Bell Clendenen Smith.
After school, Vickie worked as a CNA for 20 plus years in the Mexia and Groesbeck area. Vickie worked as housekeeper with the Mexia State Supported Living Center for 14 years. After she retired from the Mexia State Supported living center, she moved to Colorado City to be near her daughter, Jamie, and grandkids Anthony, Aiden Aisley and Seth. Shortly after followed her sons James (Bubba) and Justin. Vickie was living her best life with her family and her two cats Kami and Cherry.
Vickie loved all holidays. She went all out for all of them. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and all the children of the family with candy. She loved the Dallas Cowboys. Vickie loved Jesus and had accepted him in her life at an early age.
Vickie was the most beautiful, kind and thoughtful person. She always made sure everyone was included and welcome. She put others before herself. She was a hard worker. She sometimes worked 2 jobs to provide for her family. She loved her coffee and The Dallas Cowboys. Although she will be greatly missed, we know that she is with Jesus.
Preceding her in death were parents Lee and Lois Smith, sister Barbara Cox, brother Edward Smith, sister Marilyn Meazell, brother Billy Smith, niece Pam Guest, nephew Kenneth Page, nephew Rodney Page, nephew Stevie Ray Page, nephew Gary Page, nephew Charlie Cox, niece Skylar Cox, brother-in-law Mike Sterling, brother-inlaw Stanley Pickens and son-in-law Joseph Harter.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jamie Edwards and husband, Brandon, of Colorado City; sons, James Ward and wife, Jennifer of Colorado City and Justin Ward and wife, DeeDee of Colorado City; sister, Betty Sterling of Millican; grandchildren, Anthony Harter of Colorado City, Aiden Edwards, Aisley Edwards and Seth Edwards of Colorado City and Gavin Fulgham of Sherman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
