RUBY JEWEL HODGES

Ruby Jewel Hodges, 105, longtime resident of Coolidge, entered her heavenly home on Oct. 10, 2020. Graveside services will be held at the Coolidge Cemetery on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 10:30 a.m., with Jim Britt officiating.

Ruby Jewel was born on Jan. 9, 1915, in Oletha, at her family home to Sam and Myrtle Bardin. On Sept. 12, 1934, she married the love of her life, Roy Hodges, and they built their life in Coolidge. Ruby Jewel was a hard worker on their farm and worked at the Mexia State Supported Living Center, where she retired. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening, and everyone that knew her would say she could do anything. Her strong faith in the Lord was apparent throughout her life journey of 105 years. Her loving compassionate heart and wise words toward friends and family will be missed but forever treasured.

Ruby Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Myrtle Bardin; husband Roy Hodges; sisters Juanita Forrester and Ollie Ruth Mann; brother Jack Bardin and son-in-law Bert Harrison Sr.

Ruby Jewel is survived by her daughters, Glenna Harrison, of Mexia, and Jan Robinson and husband Ken, of Green Valley, Ariz. Ruby Jewel was blessed with six grandchildren, Stacy Harrison of Fort Worth, Bert Lynn Harrison Jr. of Mexia, Jon Harrison and wife Jaime, of Mexia, James Harrison and wife Kelly, of Mexia, Angie Bardin and husband David, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Andy Todd, of Longview. Ruby Jewel is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, whom she loved dearly.
