Roy Alvis Calame Jr
Roy Alvis Calame Jr., 94, of Wortham, peacefully passed away Nov. 19, 2022, at Skilled Care of Mexia.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Jeff Looney officiating. Interment will follow at Wortham Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service, starting at 1 p.m.
Mr. Calame was born Dec. 11, 1927, in Corsicana, to Roy Alvis and Gertrude Oliver Calame. He had been in the community his whole life. He married Hazel Hosea on Aug. 8, 1947, in Mexia. Roy was a glass plant worker for 22 years with Chattanooga in Corsicana. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Mexia.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Sharon Calame; and infant son, Jeffrey Dale Calame.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Hazel Calame of Wortham; sons, Richard Calame and wife Marsha of Mexia, and Rodney Calame and wife Pam of Mexia; grandchildren, Kasie Mc-Gowan and husband Mike of Wortham, Jamie Nibbe and husband Andy of Teague, Sarah Simpson and husband, Evan of Mexia, Bryan Calame and Cody Calame of Wortham; great-grandchildren, Macee Calame, Kara Lara, Justin Hargis, James Hargis, Natalie Nibbe, Ava Simpson, Tatum Calame and Rockie Calame; and great-great-grandchildren, Teagan Bartlett, Harlie Gonzales, and Malcolm Mc-Gowan.
Serving as pallbearers are Bryan Calame, Cody Calame, Evan Simpson, James Hargis, Andy Nibbe and Chase Rogers.
