Margie Phillips
Margie Phillips, 97, of Mexia, passed away Jan. 10, 2023, at Groesbeck LTC. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 14 at Jones Funeral Services Chapel, with Gary Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Point Enterprise Cemetery. Visitation will be held before the service, starting at 1 p.m.
Phillips was born Nov.14, 1925, in Rusk to Raymond and Audry Mc-Graw Welch.
Phillips was a great friend to all. She was an avid quilter and crocheter. She was a member of the “Knit Wits,” a local group of quilters and knitters that make hats and blankets for P hillips cancer patients, the homeless or anyone that could use one. She was also a member of the Point Enterprise Goodwill Club. Being a member of these clubs was very fitting for Margie, as she was a very charitable, giving person. Margie was also an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, and bird watching, especially hummingbirds.
Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Marion Phillips; son, Jimmy Phillips; daughterin- law, Linda Phillips; and brother, Roland Welch.
Survivors include her sister, Beverly Spell; granddaughters, Nancy Reedy and husband Kelly, and Rebecca Phillips; great-grandchildren, Austin, Kamden and Jordyn; special friend, Catherine Tucker and husband Jesse; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
