Clarence Ray Taylor
Clarence Ray Taylor, 93 of Shiloh, passed away Nov.12, 2022, at his residence. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Clifton Jones officiating. Interment followed at Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation with the family was held prior to the service, starting at 9 a.m., at the funeral home.
Taylor was born on March 24, 1929, in Teague to Clarence and Ivey Johnson Taylor. After his parents’ deaths at 6 years old, Ray grew up in the Corsicana Children’s Home, then returned to Mexia. Ray married Jimmie Mae Alewine on April 15, 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Army. After his service, he worked at the Dr. Pepper distributor and later retired from the Mexia State School. Taylor was a member of Prairie Grove Baptist Church.
Preceding Taylor in death were his wife, Jimmie Taylor; his parents, brothers and sisters; sons, Rickey Taylor, David Taylor, an infant son and great-grandson, Gavin Ray Williams.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen Forman and husband Hugh of Mexia; grandson, William Forman Jr; granddaughters, Michelle Williams of Sherman, Megan Finch of Azle, and Sarah Giles of Mexia; sister, Dorothy Auld and husband Edmond of Mexia; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
