BETTY LOUISE STUBBS
Betty Louise Stubbs, of Mexia, entered her heavenly home on Nov. 27, 2020, at the age of 81. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 30, in the Mexia Cemetery with the Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating.
Betty was born August 29, 1939, in Corsicana, to Kenneth Alvin and Marie Sullivan Price. Soon after graduating from Skyline High School in Dallas, she married Mickey D. Stubbs on Sept. 12, 1957. In 1961, they moved to Mexia, where they made their home. Betty and Mickey were blessed with three children, Cindy, Greg and Jami, in addition to their special grandchildren. Although she worked in the Education Department of the Mexia State School, along with a few other entities, her most important job was that of a wife and mother.
Betty lived her life loving the Lord, her family, and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Any activities that her children or grandchildren were involved in, she was going be a there to support them. Meme, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, was not going to miss anything that her grandchildren were participating in; she looked forward to attending their activities. In the eyes of her grandchildren, Meme could not have been a better grandmother.
Even though Betty was quiet, soft spoken, and enjoyed the simple things in life, she was friendly, had an outgoing personality, treated everyone with respect and was always concerned for the well-being of others. It was easy to see she was a faithful Christian, as it was exemplified by the way she lived her life. She was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church. Betty also served on the Board of Directors of Incommons Bank from 2000-2019, served as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, was a member of the Women’s Golf Association and the Junior Friday Club. Her hobbies consisted of shopping, traveling and playing bridge with various groups.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Kenneth and Marie Price; husband of 43 years Mickey Don Stubbs; brother Alvin Price; son-in-law John A. Jones; and brother-in-law Ray Goodman.
Betty is survived by her loving children, Cindy Neal and husband Trip, of Fairfield, Greg Stubbs and wife Jennifer, of Mexia, and Jami Jones of Fairfield; grandchildren Erin Neal and fiancé Austin Harvey of Corpus Christi, Caitlin Neal of Fairfield, Regan Stubbs of Mexia, and Bailey Jones of Fairfield; step-grandson Jason Neal, of Fairfield; sisters Martha Nulf and husband Larry, of Enchanted Oaks, and Nita Norwood and husband Ron, of Corsicana; sister-in-law Sharon Goodman, of Corsicana; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mexia Academic Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 534, Mexia, TX 76667; or First Baptist Church, 500 E. Carthage, Mexia, TX 76667.
