Nowell back at Blackcat helm
The Mexia Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday, Jan. 3, to rescind Athletic Director Aaron Nowell’s resignation.
The board met in a special-called meeting at 6 p.m., and almost immediately went into executive session. Nowell spent about 40 minutes in with the board and Superintendent Ryder Appleton. Executive sessions are closed to the public and the media.
When the board reconvened into regular session about 7 p.m., a motion was made and seconded and the board members voted to keep Nowell on without any further discussion.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:03 p.m.
Nowell resigned Dec. 14, 2022, after two seasons at the helm of the Blackcats.
