Two arrested in shooting

Mexia Police Department officers arrested two men Friday afternoon, Oct. 21, suspected of involvement in a shooting in the 300 block of West Fannin in Mexia, according to a press release issued by MPD.

MPD was dispatched about 2:20 p.m. Friday in reference to gunshots. 

As of early Friday evening, law enforcement had not received any reports of injuries sustained by anyone involved in this incident. 

Officers arrested Skylar Wood, 18, of Mexia, and Jordan West, 18, of Mexia. They are charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, both second-degree felonies. They are also charged with Evading Arrest-Detention, a Class A misdemeanor.

“The Mexia Police Department expresses their appreciation to our colleagues at the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol, the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office, and the Limestone County Communications Center for their professionalism and assistance with this incident,” MPD said via the press release.
