ROBERT EUGENE ARCHIBALD
Robert Eugene Archibald, 91, of Mexia, passed away on Nov. 12, 2020, at his residence. Graveside services were held on Sunday, Nov. 15, at Point Enterprise, with Ray Jones officiating. The family requests that face masks be worn. There will be no formal visitation.
Robert was born on Oct. 9, 1929, in Mexia, to Melvin Willis and Liller Nancy Myers Archibald. He had been in the community most of his life. He retired as a welder and afterwards went to work for Limestone County Road & Bridge, from where he retired as a road supervisor. He married the love of his life, Imogene U. Webb, on Oct. 8, 1987, in Mexia. He was a member of Forest Glade Baptist Church. He enjoyed squirrel hunting, fishing, gardening, yard work and watching westerns, especially John Wayne, with Imogene.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Tyler Archibald. Survivors include his wife, Imogene; children Reonia Fleming and husband, Roy, of Mexia, Robert “Archie” Archibald Jr., of Mexia, Paula West and husband Ron, of Groesbeck, Marlene Rand and husband Doug, of Groesbeck, Mike Arney and wife Melissa, of Groesbeck; sister Dorothy Hedrick, of McGregor; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew; as well as numerous other relatives.
