Roger Lee Anderson
Roger Lee Anderson, of Coolidge, was called to his heavenly home with Jesus on Friday, March 15, 2019.
Roger was born on Nov. 14, 1952, in Versailles, Mo., to Evert and Della Anderson.
In 1974, Roger graduated from The College of the Ozarks near Branson, Mo., with a degree in History. Thereafter, he worked many odd jobs for a few years while he navigated the world. This led him to move to Limestone County in 1980. He soon met the love of his life, Peggy, and married her in May of 1981. He taught and coached for a few years at Coolidge High School before he began what would become his lifelong career of selling cars, which started in Mexia at Dick Scott Ford and ended in Marlin at Apple Sport Chevrolet.
Roger was a very active member and a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Coolidge for more than 30 years. He is lovingly known for his love for the Lord, his quirky sense of humor, his immense knowledge of most everything, all things sports, especially for the Baylor Bears and the Missouri Tigers, writing, singing, creating and cooking recipes as well as going out to eat. He loved his family and friends and would do anything for anyone.
Roger is survived by his brother, Doug Anderson and wife Dee of Gravois Mills, Mo.; sister, Linda Lading, also of Gravois Mills, Mo.; numerous nieces and nephews of Missouri. Tim Krause with wife Nancy, and Howard Krause, all of Groesbeck. Three generations of “great” nieces and nephews, but none so as special as Matthew Krause of Groesbeck, whom Roger loved and cherished as his own son. Though Roger and Peggy never had children of their own, they cared for their nieces and nephews as their own children.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Evert and Della Anderson; brother, Clinton Anderson; and his adored wife, Peggy Anderson.
A memorial to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, March 23, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Coolidge. Services will be officiated by Pastor Chuck Sturgeon. Everyone is invited to come celebrate the life of Brother Roger.
