Fern was born April 2, 1926. She was the daughter to Roy and Ella Flowers Butler of Wortham and spent most of her youth there.

Fern married Claude Albert Baker on June 13, 1943. They were married 44 years. Fern and Claude had two children, Dennis Dale Baker and Claudia Marie Baker Lowman.

Her life with Claude took her to Florida, Illinois, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas. Adventures with Claude was always exciting from helping him run a restaurant on Eagle Mountain Lake to cooking big meals for family and friends.

She was so loved by all who knew her, nurturing those that needed help and putting others before herself – always remembering important events and birthdays. Her grace, beauty and thoughtfulness were unsurpassed.

Her large family was very important to her. Fern (Gammy) loved her family so very much. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved and adored her.

Her faith and love of God was ever-present. She enjoyed volunteering at First United Methodist Church-Hurst with Mission Central. She lived a full life, surrounded by her family. She always possessed a quick wit, dry sense of humor and could beat anybody in dominoes!

She is survived by daughter Claudia Baker Lowman, husband Michael Lowman; granddaughter, Codi Baker Knight, husband Jesse Knight; grandson, Matthew Lowman; granddaughter, Michelle Lowman Brown, husband Lance Brown; great granddaughter, Ellis Knight; and great grandsons, Ian Knight and Luke Brown; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
