Steven Eugene Smith

Steven Eugene Smith passed away Oct. 24, 2018, in Mexia at the age of 60.  A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at Lost Prairie Cemetery with Brother Randy Ayres officiating.  Pallbearers will be Bruce Smith, Todd Smith, Aaron Smith, Matthew Smith, Heath Smith, Joshua Henderson, Jeremy Henderson and Kenneth Cox.

Visitation with the family will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Steve was born April 29, 1958, in Bryan to Jesse and Sandra Smith.  He grew up in Mexia and graduated from Mexia High School.  He worked as a millwright and later completed 21 years as Operations manager for Mexia Industrial Products.

Steve loved being in the outdoors and going on motorcycle rides with or without friends riding along, as it was a special time when he felt closer to God.  He also enjoyed building things and if something came along that he didn’t know how to do, he worked until he figured it out. He could do most anything he set his mind to.  Steve loved his family; they were his pride and joy.    

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mark Smith.

Steve is survived by his wife, Kristi Smith; children, Steven “Shawn” Smith, Micheal Smith and wife, Katy, Ashley Smith, Jessica Smith, Jacob Smith and Bradley Smith; grandchildren, Skylar Keel, Lane Keel, Cameron Quimby, Tyler Smith and Chris Carboni; brothers, Bruce Smith and wife, Linda, Aaron Smith and wife, Vicki, Todd Smith and wife, Doris, Matthew Smith and wife, Kristen, Heath Smith and wife, Kim, Neal Smith and Jared Smith; sister, Sherry Stuart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
