Flooding shuts down Highway 84
Heavy rain Tuesday, July 7, flooded northwest Limestone County, filling pastures and bar ditches along U.S. Highway 84 until the water ran over the highway, which was blocked for nine hours. Traffic was halted on the highway in both directions near the Navasota River, with state troopers blocking the road so drivers would not attempt to pass through the flooded area. Some estimated the depth of the floodwater over the highway at its worst was between one and two feet.
