Some of the many Christmas events during Mexia’s mega-Christmas celebration this week are less well-known than the parade and market, but are just as fun and filled with treats and times of fun and joy. They are described below, and residents will surely want to try one or more of them this year.

Mexia police were called to the 1300 block of East Tamarisk Lane on Friday, Nov. 27, about 6:30 p.m., about a pit bull that had bitten a man.
Caritas of Waco has received a $200,000 grant to continue its case management program specifically for low-income veterans, offering guidance for veterans and surviving spouses living at or near the poverty level through a process to help them overcome financial, emotional, educational, employment and other barriers to success. The program’s goal is to assist these veterans and spouses in moving out of poverty by becoming more self-sufficient and less reliant on emergency assistance programs.
