A Temple resident who owns a house in Mexia called the Mexia Police Department last week, saying his brother had an active arrest warrant and was using his Mexia house without permission and was using drugs there.
Coolidge’s Mesquite Tree Festival continued its tradition of holding a fish fry the Friday of the festival, featuring talent that entertains those present.
Coolidge residents continued their annual Mesquite Tree Festival tradition on Saturday, beginning with the Mr. and Miss Mesquite Tree Pageant at the Coolidge Community Center, followed by treats and fun at booths in the grassy lot downtown, a parade and later a street dance.
The severe weather sirens went off in Mexia Sunday afternoon, May 9, but City Manager Eric Garretty said it was a false alarm. Coincidentally, however, very strong winds were reported south of Mexia and at Lake Mexia, leaving behind snapped trunks and branches and a loss of power.
