Golf enthusiasts will have the opportunity in April not only to enjoy their favorite game but also to help in a worthy cause: raising money for an arena cover at Cross Creek Meadows, an organization that serves veterans, first responders, children with disabilities and others interested in equine-assisted activities and therapies.
The Wortham High School One Act Play will compete April 14 at the regional meet at Panola College in Carthage. The troupe consists of five freshmen and two juniors, none of which had participated in One Act Play before. It is also Alicia Hayes’ first time to direct OAP at the high school level. The troupe will present “Pink Lemonade for Tomorrow,” by Ruth Angell Purkey, published by Samuel French.
History buffs will want to attend the Soldier Muster and Pioneer Event this coming weekend, Friday and Saturday, March 26-27, at Old Fort Parker.
A Mexia police officer made a traffic stop in the 500 block of East Commerce on Tuesday, March 16, just af ter midnight, and arrested the driver for allegedly having methamphetamine and also a 9mm firearm in his possession.
