Atmos Energy workers who were called in to repair a natural gas leak on the lot of Charlie Allen’s Hamburgers and the Alon Service Station discovered there was more than just a leak on hand.
Although the Toys for Tots 2021 Drive actually began Oct. 1, Alvis Minter of Mexia, who is in charge of the program in Limestone, Freestone, Navarro and Leon counties, said people in Mexia needing help through this program should sign up Nov. 29-30 at the Presbyterian Church.
Thanks to a generous donation by the Limestone County Republican Women, the Sheriff’s Office now has $15,000 earmarked for bullet proof vests. The group presented the large check to County Judge Richard Duncan and commissioners at their regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Linda Kay Alston spoke about the group’s recent Chilli Supper, and how their donation goal steadily grew as they exceeded their own expectations.
