Just as the Wortham Bulldogs football game was ticking to its end about 10 p.m. Friday, a driver wrecked his vehicle and it caught fire in a yard near the intersection of North Fourth Street and FM 27.
Tej Bryant showed flashes of what he’s capable of in Mexia’s loss Friday, Sept. 2, to top-ranked Franklin. The Blackcat senior hauled in two passes for 91 yards. He had grabs of 56 and 35 yards. On both plays, quarterback Jacques Cooper threw the ball high into the air and Bryant outjumped and outfought a defender to come down with it. Bryant said coaches have been telling him to use his size and leaping ability and catch the ball at its highest point. “Lately, the coach has been telling me I need to go up for the ball instead of letting it come down to me,” said the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder. “Go up because I have the advantage over (cornerbacks). I’m taller and longer than most of the corners.”
This week at Mexia LTC we started off with Bible Study by Irma Carranza on Monday morning. Residents played bingo that afternoon.
